English-Speaking Therapy in Stockholm with Dr. Tama
Hi, I’m Tama Lane, Ph.D. — a New York trained clinical psychologist offering English-speaking therapy for individuals and couples navigating life transitions, identity, and emotional complexity in Stockholm.
Modern therapy for complex lives. Culturally attuned. Globally experienced.
My Approach to Therapy
Integrative & Evidence Based
I offer therapy for individuals and couples using an integrative, evidence-based approach grounded in clinical psychology. My work blends psychodynamic insight, emotionally focused therapy, relational-systemic frameworks, and elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to support both deep exploration and practical, sustainable change. I incorporate tools that strengthen reflection, emotional awareness, and clarity—while helping clients understand the patterns and protective strategies shaping their emotions and relationships.
A Modern Approach to Emotional Health
Therapy today requires more than passive listening, vague interpretations, or outdated models that keep clients talking without change. My approach is active, attuned, and grounded in what research—and real life—show actually helps people heal. I work with you in real time to understand what's happening emotionally, make meaning of it, interrupt patterns that no longer serve you, and build the skills and capacity needed for everyday life and meaningful change. Insight matters, but so does what you do with it. I prioritize both.
Tailored to Your Needs
Clients often come to therapy during moments of disruption—relationship ruptures, emotional distance, major life transitions, identity shifts, work-related stress, unresolved trauma, or the exhaustion that comes from holding too much for too long. Whether you’re seeking focused support or deeper, longer-term exploration, I adapt our work to the emotional, relational, and environmental realities shaping your life. Together, we make sense of the patterns affecting your well-being, create space for what has been overwhelming or unspoken, and work toward the steadiness, clarity, and connection you want in your life.
Culturally Fluent & Globally Experienced
With clinical experience spanning New York, France, Jordan, and now Stockholm, I bring a global lens to therapy. My style is warm, collaborative, and direct. I pay close attention to how history, family systems, and culture shape emotional life—especially the layers we inherit, the identities we negotiate, and the relational patterns we learn long before we can name them.
Individual Therapy
I support individuals working through anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, burnout, grief, relational patterns, and the lasting effects of stress or trauma. Many clients come wanting to understand how early attachment experiences, family systems, and inherited emotional roles continue to influence their adult relationships, identity, and self-worth. Our work helps you slow down, make sense of recurring patterns, and develop more grounded ways of responding to the challenges in your life. I also work with personality dynamics, neurodivergence, and high-functioning distress—often expressed through chronic overwhelm, perfectionism, or a sense of carrying too much alone.
Therapy Support Services
Couples Therapy
I support partners seeking greater emotional closeness, clearer communication, and repair after rupture—whether the pain comes from disconnection, conflict, betrayal, stress, or long-standing patterns that leave both partners feeling unheard. Together, we slow down what’s happening between you, understand the deeper needs and fears beneath the arguments, and rebuild a way of relating that feels safer and more fulfilling. My practice is inclusive of LGBTQIA+ relationships and partnerships exploring non-monogamy or open relationship structures.
Men’s Wellness
A space for men navigating identity, emotional resilience, and the silent weight of performance, legacy, and expectation. Whether confronting stress, emotional shutdown, intimacy struggles, fatherhood, or cultural norms around masculinity, therapy offers a grounded opportunity to access deeper insight and authentic connection. Clients may present with anxiety, anger, low mood, or relational difficulties—often masked by achievement or self-reliance.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma is rarely a story of the past; it lives in the present—showing up in how you think, feel, relate, and protect yourself. It can look like anxiety, shutdown, irritability, over-achievement, emotional distance, people-pleasing, or the constant sense of being “on guard.” My trauma-informed approach centers on safety, clarity, and understanding how earlier experiences continue to shape your emotional and relational life today. Together, we work to integrate what happened, lessen its ongoing impact, and build a steadier, more anchored sense of self.
Where We Meet
I offer therapy both in person in central Stockholm and online for those across Sweden or abroad. Whether you prefer face-to-face connection or the flexibility of virtual sessions, we’ll work together in a format that supports your comfort, access, and consistency. Sessions are conducted securely and confidentially, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience—wherever you are.
